Winter floral and lace can be so feminine. This unexpected combination layered with textures and patterns, can create a soft and alluring holiday look. I dread walking into a party and find that another woman is wearing my dress. So add a little twist to your outfit. Give it that ‘je ne sais quoi’ that defines your personality. Maybe it’s that fur coat you haven’t worn in years, or perhaps a beautiful hair accessory, or wearing a bootie instead of a pump. This New Years Eve feel fabulous and look glamorous!
This floral lace dress from my previous “marlena-maree” collection, worn with tonal booties gives the outfit a less formal look. It’s just another way to shop your closet. If you have a lace dress that you typically wear only in the warmer months, let it be the conversation piece at this year’s holiday party. If you want to glam it up, you can always add a fur coat and a high-heel pump.
Here is an option if you don’t have anything in your closet that can emulate this look. I adore this dress from Self Portrait and it won’t break your budget. The Faux fur emerald coat is such a statement and can be worn anytime, even casually with jeans and booties. The shoes are a prized possession. You’ll feel like Cinderella for the night.
I love this white lace dress. I bought it three years ago and it makes its debut out of my closet a couple of times a year. I though it perfect for a New Years Eve party. I paired it with a black velvet coat from my previous “marlena maree” collection, a black belt, high-heel Jimmy Coo booties and some gold accessories. It turned out very ‘boho rock-star’! Now I just need a red carpet.
The point is that you probably have a maxi dress in your closet waiting to dazzle everyone at a party this holiday season. Have some fun with patterns and textures and play dress up. You’ll be surprised how beautiful you’ll look.
If black and white is too drastic for you, opt for tone on tone. It’s a beautiful combination…very soft and elegant, yet still trendy and chic. The white dress is also Self Portrait (I know, I’m obsessed) and it’s absolutely gorgeous. I would wear this as a wedding dress too. If the fringed booties are too casual for you, opt for a nude pump or a high-heel sandal. This look feels a little like Downton Abbey to me (another obsession). So if you want to tap into that era, wear this outfit and you will make an unforgettable entrance.
This maxi floral dress from Zara has been surprisingly popular for me this season. I think I’ve worn it no less half a dozen times since I bought a couple of months ago. At first, I thought it may be matronly with the dark toned floral print, but it is so easy to wear that I absolutely love it. It blends well in an outfit, but it also stands on its own. I have worn it with nude pumps, nude knee high boots and black booties. I have added a fitted black blazer to it and a fur vest, both of which just looked fabulous. Here I wanted the dress to be the conversation piece, so adding a high-heel edgy shoe and a red belt. It’s a very festive look.
This floral dress is also from Zara. It’s very similar to my dress and can be worn year around. I love the relaxed velvet blazer coat. Pair it with a Bordeaux strappy pump from Aquazzura and a box clutch and you are ready to woe them at the party.
This season have fun shopping your closet first, but if you need a few pieces to compliment your outfit, I hope these ideas have inspired you.
